D2 Wrestler of the Week – Carl Broghammer

The D2 Wrestler of the week for the week of 1/7 – 1/13 is Upper Iowa’s Carl Broghammer. Brohammer, a Redshirt Junior from Manchester Ia, was truly dominant at the NWCA National Duals. Carl went 5-0 on the weekend, 3 of which were falls – earning him most pins/least amount of time for the event. Broghammer also found a way to score the 4th most match points at the event.

Broghammer is currently ranked #1 in the nation at 197 lbs. As a RS Freshamn Broghammer earned 3rd place at the NCAA championships. Last season Broghammer was ranked 3rd for a majority of last season, but fell short of qualifying for the National Tournament – that pain has surely fueled Carl up to this point in the season. Broghammer has won the following tournaments this season: Luther College Open, Augsburg Open, Midwest Classic, and the Citrus Open. Broghammer has 28 wins, 21 of which have been by bonus points (13 by fall, 7 by Major, 1 Tech.) Broghammer is also a 2x Academic All American.
