NCAA DIVISION II WRESTLING COACHES ASSOCIATION POLL


INDIANAPOLIS–
Defending national champion St. Cloud State holds on to the top spot in NCAA Division II Wrestling heading into the 2017 Wrestling National Championships in the latest edition of the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Association Poll, released Thursday on D2wrestle.com

The Huskies feature eight nationally-ranked wrestlers, headlined by top-ranked, returning National Champion Brett Valazquez at 125. Notre Dame took over sole control of the #2 spot, with Nebraska-Kearney in the three-spot. McKendree and Maryville round out the nation’s top five teams heading into Nationals, in the four and five spots.

King University, bolstered by the return of Bryce Killian at 141, made the largest jump in this edition of the poll, from receiving points to #19. UNC-Pembroke (T22), Seton Hill (23), Limestone (T25) and Minnesota State-Moorhead (T25) all made the move into the top 25 in the final edition of the poll.

The NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Association Poll team rankings are tournament strength, and are determined by a points ranking based upon the ranking of a team’s individually ranked student-athletes.

This is the final ranking of the 2016-17 season.
